The Cross Indoor at Palexpo, presented by the Tribune de Genève, once again showcased world-class sport this year. Among the competitors were some of the world's best eventing riders, including three-time Olympic champion Michael Jung (GER), who finished seventh with an impressive performance and demonstrated his technical expertise to the spectators.
Following Mélody Johner's victory for Switzerland last year with Toubleu de Rueire, who retired from international competition after this win, the 2025 title was claimed by Dutch rider Janneke Boonzaaijer. Riding her Olympic horse Champ de Tailleur, she secured a resounding victory, confirming her form and avenging her second-place finish last year.
Close behind was Ireland's Cathal Daniels with Rioghan Rua, who tackled the challenging indoor course with great composure and rhythm. Third place went to France's Karim Florent Laghouag with Triton Fontaine. The 18-year-old gelding, already a team silver medallist in Paris in 2024 and a bronze medallist in Tokyo in 2021, demonstrated remarkable stamina and an unwavering fighting spirit despite his age.
Once again, the stands came alive to the rhythm of the pairs on the track, with spectators cheering on all the participants with equal enthusiasm. Following in the footsteps of Lara de Liedekerke of Belgium in 2023 and Mélody Johner of Switzerland last year, the ‘Oranje’ rider secured the third consecutive victory for a woman in this discipline.
