BEN MAHER WINS AT SPRUCE MEADOWS AND CLAIMS HIS FIRST MAJOR
British rider Ben Maher and Enjeu de Grisien won the Spruce Meadows Major in Canada on Sunday, a leg of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. The victory marks the Olympic champion’s first Major win on the prestigious circuit.
At the end of a particularly challenging competition, Ben Maher delivered a magnificent performance with Enjeu de Grisien. After a fault in the first round, the British rider responded perfectly with a clear round in the second round. With a total of four points, the pair qualified for the jump-off alongside six other competitors.
Facing Lillie Keenan, Steve Guerdat, and four other pairs also on four points, Ben Maher once again rode a clear round to claim victory in a jump-off of the highest quality.
Lillie Keenan and Fasther took the second place, while Steve Guerdat and Albführen’s Iashin Sitte rounded out the podium. This was another strong performance for the Swiss rider, who continues to demonstrate his consistency at the highest level.
RICHARD VOGEL WILL HAVE TO WAIT A LITTLE LONGER
Highly expected after his victories at the Dutch Masters and in Aachen, Richard Vogel entered this Major with a historic opportunity: to become the second rider in history to achieve the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, following Scott Brash in 2015.
The German also reached the jump-off after finishing the second round with four penalty points. However, a fault on the final course dashed his hopes of continuing his quest for the Grand Slam.
The next Major in the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping will take place in Geneva from December 9 to 13, as part of the CHI Geneva. This event holds special significance, as it will mark our 65th edition and our 100-year history.
See you at Palexpo in December to experience this upcoming major event in the world of show jumping.
