Swiss clean sweep in the Coupe de Genève

The ever-challenging Coupe de Genève, with its many combination jumps, kept a sizeable lunchtime crowd on the edge of its seats.

A world-ranking event, it ended with a jump-off that saw a Swiss clean sweep, with home riders occupying the top three places. A winner in the same event in 2019 on the same horse (Venard de Cerisy), former Olympic champion Steve Guerdat edged out the young and talented Edouard Schmitz, riding Gamin van’t Naastveldhof. Niklaus Schurtenberger, on board C-Steffra, rounded off the all-Swiss podium.

Steve Guerdat: “Venard has always jumped combinations really well and he was really on form today. I thoroughly enjoyed the jump-off, which was perfectly put together. It’s definitely an event that suits me and I always enjoy taking part in it because it’s also a bit of a change from what we usually do.”
