The 23rd Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final will see the top ten riders in the world come together at 21.00 on Friday 13 December to contest a title currently in the hands of Steve Guerdat, last year’s winner on Venard de Cerisy. Can the Swiss rider, an Olympic silver medallist in Paris this year and the only person to have won the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final three times, retain his title?
Second in the FEI world ranking, just behind Sweden’s Henrik Von Eckermann and ahead of Great Britain’s Ben Maher, Guerdat would become only the second rider to do so, after the legendary Ludger Beerbaum, a winner in 2001 and 2002. Germany’s Christian Kukuk, who beat Guerdat to Olympic gold in Paris, is taking part in his first Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final, as is his compatriot Richard Vogel, the winner of last year’s Rolex Grand Prix de Genève. Also vying for glory will be France’s Julien Epaillard, Austria’s Max Kühner and US duo Kent Farrington and McLain Ward. Switzerland’s Martin Fuchs missed out on a place in the top 10 of the FEI world ranking by a single point and is first reserve, with Ireland’s Conor Swail claiming the last spot ahead of him.
