Saturday evening’s events got under way in style with the Grande Chasse, a permanent fixture on the CHIG programme. As always, the event, which included an eye-catching river fence, offered an unrivalled spectacle of speed and daring. French Nicolas Deseuzes, on Stella de Preuilly, clocked the best time, followed by Barbara Schnieper (+96 hundredth) on Escoffier. Jean-Maurice Brahier was third on Valencio.
