Horses and people : a mutually beneficial relationship
Since 1958, Fondation pour le Cheval has been giving elderly horses, ponies and donkeys a warm and comfortable home where they can enjoy a well-deserved retirement. We run four centres, where nearly 200 animals, some of whom have been rescued from less than ideal conditions, can see out their last few years peacefully and with dignity.
Our four-legged friends venture out of their stables every day, in all weathers, spending time with their stablemates in the wide-open spaces available to us. During the warmer months, they graze peacefully in the beautiful, wooded pastures of the Franches-Montagnes, amid meadows bursting with colour and overlooked by majestic fir trees.
Our horses are accommodated in modern stables, where they are kept safe and calm. Our dedicated teams look after them with great care and attend to their individual needs, respecting them and the characteristics that make them who they are.
