The programme for the 58th CHI Geneva unveiled
For the third consecutive year the Geneva International Horse Show (CHIG) will have the honour of staging four disciplines in competition.
Show jumping will stay top of the bill, supported once again by the only Indoor Cross-country competition in Switzerland, the Swiss round of the FEI Driving World Cup™, and 5* dressage competitions. An exciting four days of competition in store!
No fewer than 400 horses and 120 riders and drivers will come together at Palexpo, 6-9 December.
The culmination of this equestrian festival will of course be Sunday’s Rolex Grand Prix, one of the four legs of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, scheduled for 2.15 pm on 9 December.
But first, riders will have to qualify for this prestigious competition by proving their worth in the Geneva Trophy (Thursday, 6 December) or the Geneva Cup (Saturday, 8 December, daytime session).
In another highlight, the world’s 10 best riders will compete in the 18th Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final from 7.45 pm on Friday, 7 December. The Prix des Communes Genevoises, the Credit Suisse Challenge, and the Grande Chasse (Prix Starling Hotel Geneva) will be back too, along with the Youth Challenge team competition, introduced in 2017 and presented this year by Swiss Team Trophy.
Dressage fans will want to catch the Grand Prix Jiva Hill Stables at 4.15 pm on the Thursday. Depending on the outcome, its riders will either take part in Friday, 7 December’s Grand Prix Spécial presented by Victory NET Foundation or, for the eight best, in the Jiva Hill Stables Freestyle.
The exciting Indoor Cross-country presented by the Tribune de Genève will open the Saturday evening session. The bank, the lake and other novel obstacles will be the biggest challenges of this competition, whose course will cover both the main arena and the practice paddock.
Lastly, the Swiss round of the FEI Driving World Cup™, presented by Radio Télévision Suisse and combining marathon and cones, will start at 11.45 am on Sunday, 9 December.
This rich sporting programme will be complemented by equestrian displays and the presentation of young Swiss-bred horses in the attractions arena.
